This is wonderful Doug. "Meeting" each of the basketball players, hearing Elliot play Hallelujah, seeing your videos - you're providing us back home with a very rich experience. Thank you and stay safe.
What a beautifully written article. Sharing the story of this basketball team really allows the reader to see this tragedy through a different lens. Thank you for introducing us to such special young men and their amazing coach. Hearing the words of Zevi and the piano music were especially powerful.
Interesting coincidence, we actually purchased our apartment from Leonard Cohen. And through the El Dorado community I have found your blog. Hallelujah.
Tracie, thank you so very much for your kind words. It means a lot to me to hear that the piece resonated with you.
And I didn't know that Leonard Cohen was a member of the esteemed El Dorado Lifetime Shareholder Club. Another wonderful artist to add to the list. (And, for the record, I consider Phil Jackson an artist, too ;-)
Such a perfect essay. Thank you for bringing a story from a very different angle, combining so many ingridients reflecting who we are and what we are going through. Loved reading about the YU Maccabees and the Coach. What a spirit!
Amazing. Thank you for sharing this story. I don't follow basketball, but if this team can open the eyes of anyone to the truth of what Israel has, and is, enduring, they will have done a great thing. I am not Jewish, but I pray for the people of Israel every day. One thing I pray for is an end to hatred for the Jewish people, and it is wonderful to see these whose lives may aid that.
Hazak, Hazak, V'Nitazek!
